These terms cover using this website. They do not cover consulting work. If you engage me, that work is governed by what we sign for it, and nothing on this page changes or limits it.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by Scale Rule Consultancy Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17406773, trading as Scale Rule Consulting. "I" and "me" on this site mean Dan Spencer, working through that company.
What this site is for
It describes what I do, how I work, and what it costs. You can read it, run the diagnostic, and send me an enquiry. That is the whole surface.
What you can do with what is here
Read it, quote it, and link to it. If you quote something, say where it came from.
The method, the build standard and the writing on this site are mine. Taking the material wholesale and presenting it as your own offering is not on. Using the ideas in your own business, in your own words, is entirely welcome and rather the point of publishing it.
The diagnostic
The diagnostic gives you an opinion based on four answers. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a survey of your business and not professional advice. It cannot see your accounts, your systems or your team, so treat what it tells you as a reasonable first guess that a real conversation might overturn.
Nothing it says is a commitment on price, timescale or approach.
What the rest of the site is, and is not
Everything here is general information. It is written carefully and kept current, and it is still general information. It is not advice on your situation, and you should not make a decision that matters on the strength of a web page. That is what the first call is for, and the first call is free.
Where the site quotes results from past work, those results happened in that business, in those circumstances. They are not a forecast for yours.
Prices
The site explains what moves a price and gives a worked example. It is not a quotation. A price becomes real when it is fixed in writing for a defined scope, and not before.
When you send an enquiry
Keep it accurate and keep it lawful. Do not send me anything confidential that you are not entitled to share, and do not send me someone else's personal information without a reason to.
Sending an enquiry does not create a contract or an obligation on either side. I will read it and reply within 2 business days, and if I am not the right person for it I will say so.
What happens to what you send is covered in the privacy notice.
Availability
I will keep the site up and working. I am one person on a hosted platform, so I am not promising it will never be down, and there is no service level attached to reading a brochure site.
Links out
Where I link to someone else's site, that is because it is useful, not because I vouch for it or control what it says.
If something goes wrong
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Beyond that: this is a website that tells you about a consulting service. If you rely on general information here instead of asking, and it turns out not to fit your situation, that is not something I can be responsible for. Anything arising from actual work I do for you is governed by the agreement for that work, which is where the liability position properly belongs.
Changes
I will update this page when the site changes. The date at the top says when it last did.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
